Central Island Powerline Ltd. (Central Power) is committed to the prevention of illness and injury of our Employees, Contractors, Suppliers, and Customers by maintaining a Health & Safety Plan that complies with the safe practices, procedures and the regulations and standards of WorksafeBC, The Workers Compensation Act and BC Hydro rules and regulations.   In addition, Central Power has received its COR certification from WorksafeBC/BCCSA which acknowledges employers who go beyond the legal requirements of the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Regulation by taking a best practices approach to a safer, healthier workforce.

Working with powerlines, particularly high voltage lines requires pre-planning, written work procedures, comprehension, and the application of safety regulations and approved practices, co-operation with regulatory personnel, use of approved and appropriate equipment, and well-trained qualified power line technicians. As recipients of the Line Contractors Association of BC Safety Award for 7 consecutive years, Central Power has demonstrated its committment to a safe and healthy work environment for 18 Years!

Our Safety Officer, Pat McGuire plays a crucial role in developing our safety and training programs and administering our Apprenticeship program.
